Mother’s Day is around the corner and what better occasion to buy jewelry. During these tough times, a gift should not be wasted with uncertainty. I used to own a boutique that specialized in handmade textiles and gifts. I was always amazed at the utter insecurity and lack of insight men (sorry, guys!) used when buying gifts. Every Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmas, there would be a steady stream of men with lots of cash entering my boutique. As a persuasive salesperson, I could have sold them just about anything but neither wanting to take advantage or the extra bother of returns, my suggestions always veered toward jewelry. And the line that always sold was Delisch, designed and made by Denise Peacock right here in Santa Cruz, California.
Delisch jewelry is infinitely wearable. Ms.Peacock’s designs are modern, fresh and utterly feminine. Pearls, natural gems, vintage beads and crystals are beautifully combined to add elegance and style to any outfit. Pricing, you ask? Well, as I always said to my male customers, “it is more affordable than Cartier, Tiffanys, or Van Cleef and Arpel.” Seriously, Delisch offers a great selection, something for everyone, you can select something from her Everyday Lux or Precious collection and I guarantee, the woman in your life will love it. Order early as everything is handmade!
Now, I wonder if my daughter has enough in her piggy bank for those raw diamond earrings, necklace or ring? There is something appealing about raw diamonds, so organic and less obvious but still diamonds. Or that ruby bracelet, hmmm….
Dropping A Hint, A To Do List:
- Visit Delisch.com
- Make your selections, yes selections. The more you choose, the more choice he will have and feel like he actually chose the gift.
- Print out copies of your choices, one page per item.
- Make sure you circle the price and delisch.com
- Start planting this selection in obvious and not so obvious places (fridge, nightstand, New Yorker, cookbook, bathroom mirror, nightstand, calendar, car (his too), his favorite cabinet in the kitchen, briefcase, golf magazine, garden shed, green grocery bags, mixed in with bills, to do lists, kid’s lunch schedule, etc…
- And then there are those males who simply want to please and are happy for suggestions. If this is your man, send him to the website. You won’t be disappointed with anything he chooses.

Her jewelry is really gorgeous! She deserves this spotlight.
Sonia, “Touche” with you comment on men buying gifts; jewelry in particular. Every year, on the afternoon of the last shopping day before Christmas, I’d meet the same group of men at our local family-owned jewelry store availing themselves of the staff’s gift giving ideas for our significant others. I suspect the store consulted their records of customers’ previous purchases in order to suggest complimentary pieces, becasue the gifts were always well received. Then again, the local version of your “dropping a hint” might very well have had the recipients themselves collaborating with the store?
